Get Google +1 Button for your Site

Google has just made the +1 button available today. The new feature was introduced exactly 2 months ago and it has become the concern of most webmasters as Google said that it could affect how our sites are ranked on the search engine.

You could have seen the button on search result pages if you enabled it in Google Labs, however, the button for your sites was not announced till today. Setting the button on your site is pretty simple, you just need to add a small snippet of code on whatever pages you want it to be displayed. It is even easier if you are using WordPress platform, I believe many plugins will be updated in 1-2 days to include the Google +1 button. If you don’t want to wait, just add the code to the file single.php in your theme’s directory.Get the code here.

At the moment, there are 4 buttons for you to choose, Small, Medium, Standard and Tall. After adding the +1 button to your site or blog, readers will be able to recommend your pages to their friends and contacts on Google search. Therefore, you could get better qualified site traffic as the content is more relevant and the CTR to your pages is also increased. The recommendation is visible only for signed-in users, they will see the personalized annotations from their contacts in Gmail chat list, Google Contacts and people they are following in Google Reader and Google Buzz.

What do you think about the availability of Google +1 button, will the feature have the same destiny as Google Buzz?
